Since 2010 Butter Sessions has championed local artists with releases and showcases focusing on all corners of the electronic music spectrum. Headed by Sleep D, the label has become a breeding ground for like-minded artists from across Australia, and further afield, including Ewan Jansen, Jennifer Loveless, Guy Contact, Cale Sexton, Roza Terenzi, and many more. Having debuted bands like Big Yawn, Mildlife, and Glass Beams to much praise, Butter Sessions unofficial sister label Research Records has carried on the same approach to releasing records since 2017, albeit concentrating on the rich live music band scenes Melbourne has become renowned for. We respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land, the Bunurong Boon Wurrung and Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung peoples of the Eastern Kulin Nation and pays respect to their Elders past, present and emerging.
